LibraryGal2's Independent Study Journal
Thursday, 13 May 2004

I worked on my research paper today. This is my second to last class period. My research paper isn't going as well as I had originally hoped. It is still too short. I have a whole lot of information in it including last semester's paper but it is only four pages long! I was hoping for five or six! I am taking it home with me so I am able to really get started on it!

I hate computers! I wrote a journal last time right before class ended. Yea, it was deleted! This is the third time this has happened! Arghhhh! This is not helping me finish out the year strong with my Independent Study. So if you see any journals missing, I did write one! I am starting to panic, I have about two more paragraphs I need to write for my research paper. I don't really need to add anything to my website except I do need to try to finish my Storytime section. It is not even close to being done! I'm not finishing very strong!

I spent all of my time working on my research paper today. I talked to Mrs. Kuglar and found out that I can add on to last semester's research paper. That rocks!!! I have been working on paragraphs about Medical, Law, and Engineering Librarians. Being able to add on to last semester's paper has saved me a lot of extra work. The topics I was writing about were basically an extension onto the last research paper. Thank you Mrs. Kuglar! I also added a graphic to my Storytime Page on my website. That took forever. I'm beginning to think that maybe technology isn't the easiest or greatest thing in the world!

I spent my time on the internet today researching different types of librarians again. Did you know that 25% of the current library directores will be 65 years old and retiresd by the year 2009 (www.rose.edu/lrc/careers/)? I am having difficulty with trying to find information on Armed Forces librarians. I might have to switch to Medical Librarians if I can't find anymore information on Armed Forces Librarians. I am pretty frustrated with myself! The Senioritis is kicking in full force. I really need to focus and start my paper! I have most of the information I need, but I just need to start! Oh, I wanted to mention that I know that last week there were not any journals! My computer would freeze whenever I even tried to login to Tripod.com. I can't write journals without being on this site. This week it does work and I plan to definately take advantage of that fact!

I spent my time working on local scholarships during my Independent Study time. I was required to type these forms to fill them out but I didn't have a typewriter. The Public library has one, but it is really hard to use. I typed everything I needed on to a Microsoft word document and printed it out. After cutting out each line, I taped the line onto the form. I plan to make copies of the form to give it a clean appearance. I also need to write a couple essays for these scholarships.

I spent my time researching for my paper today! It didn't go too well. I printed a paper with some library information of it and have no idea where it printed! The computer I was using didn't have the career center printer hooked up to it! So, I have no idea where it is. I can't find one of my lesson plans for this summer! I have no idea where it is either! It might be at the Wamego Public Library!

I worked on my website today! I added the first two weeks of lesson plans for the older kids for Summer Reading Program. The website is really starting to be pretty cool! I just need to figure out what my plans for the summer are for SRP so I can finish those pages on my site. I also searched on the internet for information for a research paper. I had no idea what I wanted to write it about! I know now! Yea!!! I am going to write a continuation of my Fall 2003 research paper. It was about different careers in the library and information science field. Well, there are so many different careers I wanted to cover more of them. I think I am going to discuss Law Librarians, Archivists, Engineering Librarians, and another kind (I'm not too sure of the last one yet)! I was thinking about either Medical Librarians or Armed Forces Librarians. I am finally feeling pretty good about this semesters project! I did have my doubts at first!

I added some of my Summer Reading Program Material today! I have decided to make a page for lesson plans. I even figured out how to add a link within a link! A site for the younger children and the older children. I hope that it will make the summer reading program go a lot more smoothly! All of the work I am putting into my site is really starting to show. The webpage looks awesome! I am really excited to get all of the information onto the site.

I worked on my webpages today. I really had a hard time with the placements of my text. It really isn't very easy to move. I am still trying to decide how to properly display all of my information. I am still in a panic over my research paper. It still has not been started. I don't even know what it is going to be about!!!

I spent my time working on scholarships today. I found a list of local scholarships which would be great! I didn't know that the Teachers Association had an education scholarship! That would be great for me! The dead line for the scholarship is April 20, 2004! Plenty of time!
